Kalapuri's Koodai tote bags are hand-knotted by rural women artisans from wire patti (plastic-coated wire), carrying forward the traditional South Indian koodai weave. Each woven tote is lightweight, sturdy, water-resistant and easy to clean — built to handle real use, not just sit on a shelf.
Every Koodai is made at Kala-Darpan, Kalapuri’s craft centre in Soni village, where around 200 rural women have been trained in handmade basketry and earn a livelihood from it.

What are the baskets and bags made of?
Storage and half baskets are handwoven from sturdy PP strap (packing patti). Koodai tote bags are hand-knotted from plastic-coated wire patti. The material for each product is listed under Details.
How long do they last?
With proper care and usage, they can last for many years.
Are they waterproof?
They are water-resistant and can handle light spills on the surface. Extended exposure to water may allow moisture to seep inside.
Can they be washed?
Storage and half baskets can be rinsed with water; use a little shampoo on stubborn stains. Koodai totes should be wiped with a damp cloth, not soaked. Dry in the shade, as long exposure to direct sunlight can fade the colours.
Can I return a basket or bag?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery only for a defect, transit damage or a wrong item, not for change of mind. A complete unboxing video, starting before the parcel is opened and showing the shipping label, is required. Approved refunds go to your original payment method.
When will my order arrive?
Orders are dispatched within 1–2 working days and typically delivered within 3–7 working days across India. Shipping is free in India, and we share a tracking link once your order is dispatched.
